How is my personal information stored?

​Verity Allen Acupuncture has always been ahead of the game when it comes to protection of personal data. 
Since November 2014 I have been using made-for-purpose patient database software from a UK based company called Writeupp (www.writeupp.com)

This is what WriteUpp say about the way they store their data:

“We take the security of your data very seriously. Consequently, we have gone to great lengths to put in place a world-class infrastructure. Your data is protected by 24/7 manned security, CCTV, real-time encrypted backup and geographically separate replication.”


“Your data is stored in a secure data centre in the United Kingdom. In addition, your data is replicated to a separate vault in a geographically separate location.”

Is my personal information confidential? 

As medical practitioners and a member of the British Acupuncture Council, we adhere to the highest levels of patient confidentiality and you can be assured your case would not be discussed with a member of the public or a fellow health professional without the consent of the patient. The only time this would not apply is if it was felt that the patient were a danger to themselves or society. 

Will you use my personal details for marketing purposes? 

Your personal details such as email addresses and phone numbers will not be passed on to any third parties. 

Verity Allen Acupuncture will occasionally send out email newsletters that are considered of interest to the patient as they will inform them of changes to clinic hours or any offers and general information they might wish to partake in. If you do not want to receive these emails you are given the option to ‘Opt Out’. You will automatically be deleted from the email list and no longer receive newsletters. 

Will I receive any other communications via text message or email? 

You will receive appointment reminders to the email address provided at the time of booking your appointment. This email address is added to your online file. The software will automatically email appointment reminders to patients. The first email will be received at the time of booking the appointment and the second, two days before the date of the appointment.

On request, you can opt out of receiving these emails however it is believed to be in the patients’ interest that these emails be sent to avoid missing appointments and incurring charges.
